♦ Annual events & fundraisers held by Tobosa Developmental Services ♦

Tobosa attempts to provide its clientele with a vast variety of activities in the belief that activity is essential to a quality life. Some program participants are unable to fund the cost of attending some of those activities due to the inability to work, as well as physical and age-related issues. Clients with meager incomes are able to participate in such activities such as Special Olympic events, local bowling, swimming, skiing and other activities through Tobosa’s fund raising efforts. In addition to small community fundraisers, Tobosa also holds two major fundraisers through the dedicated, voluntary efforts of its internal Fun’Raisin’ Committee. 

 The Secret Santa Club began in 2005 when Tobosa Staff members saw a huge need in the Early Intervention Program.  We had therapists in the homes throughout the year who were able to let us know who really needed help.  We have supported the following through the years:  2005 - 9 Children; 2006 -22 children; 2007 - 36 children; 2008 - 70 children; 2009 - 130 children. We are completely reliant on staff, business, and community donations.  There are many Tobosa staff who give to the Secret Santa Program throughout the year through an automatic deduction from each check to build up the inventory.  When a child is nominated we make sure that all children living in the home are also nominated to “keep it even” each child gets clothes, jackets, shoes and toys off of their wish list.  We also provide other items as needed: such as car seats, high chairs, diapers, heaters, blankets etc…We wrap all the gifts then give them to the parents to put under the tree…For 2010,  we provided gifts to 203 kids!  We teamed up with Christ’s Church Gifts of Love Program and had our first Celebration Night.  We had all families come to Christ Church where they enjoyed refreshments, doing arts and crafts with their kids as well as enjoying a Christmas program.  Everyone seemed to have a great time and really appreciated all of the gifts they received.   I want to thank everyone who donated their time as well as the donations that were made to make 2010 such a huge success!  A special thank you to Daniel Lopez of Lopez Insurance Agency here in Roswell, NM for his generous donation in 2010...it was a blessing!  We look forward to 2011 and are already purchasing items!
