COMMUNITY ACCESS

Community access services are specifically intended to address each person’s independence, long-term vision and personal goals. They are designed to promote maximum participation in community life. These services are typically provided  individually or with two people. Tobosa utilizes local programs that provide activities of personal interest, such as taking classes offered in the community, maintaining memberships with service clubs and organizations as well as volunteering their time at various community locations.

Day habilitation/community access staff help acquaint community members with the unique personality, strengths and gifts of each person that establishes a foundation for relationship-building. The program has also helped many people to develop valued social roles, such as a Republican Party Campaign Committee member, musical performer, Salvation Army volunteer, Pinatafest Committee member, Kiwanis Club member, and registered voter.
